Top 15 Best Mushroom Supplements, Blends & Powders Brands Reviews
When considering the best mushroom supplements (blends) to get be careful to check the label for mycelium or fruiting body, because there is a big difference in the medicinal benefit you will receive.
When it comes to choosing between a mycelium or fruiting body soured mushroom supplement there seems to be a lot of confusing. So, let’s clear it up right now.
Mycelium vs. Fruiting Body Mushroom Supplements
Mycelium is basically the roots of the mushroom. The spread through the ground in a ‘spiderweb’ like fashion similar to that as the roots of a tree.
Eventually the mycelium needs to reproduce so it creates the fruiting body which is the physical mushroom that you see and eat. The fruiting body is the final culmination of what the mycelium tries to produce and is considered ‘full spectrum’.
The mycelium is super tiny and only contains trace amounts of the beneficial medical nutrients, (e.g. Beta glucans) that you desire to get. You will normally see supplements that source mycelium to put the polysaccharide amounts on the back of the label.
If you don’t understand what polysaccharides are you might thing that it is good to see >50%. But really the lower the number the better.
You see, polysaccharides are found in high amounts with mycelium supplements because the spiderweb like texture grasps on tightly to the substrate that it is growing in and is almost impossible to completely separate the mycelium from the substrate. Therefore, high in polysaccarides means it’s high in substrate included with the myclium extract.
The fruiting body is really what you want to look for when you are looking at the label on the mushroom supplement.
Mycelium supplements are commonly used instead of fruiting body supplement because they are easier and quicker to produce. Mycelium can start growing within a week where as a fruiting body can take months to produce.
Due to all of this, all supplement blends that we will be looking at today are fruiting body only supplements. Additionally all mushroom supplement here are blends and contain at least 5 medicinal mushrooms. Mushroom supplements are ranked with 1 being the best and 15 being the lowest.

# of Mushroom in Blend: 10
Extract: Yes
Fermented: No
Certifications: Non-GMO, Vegan, USDA Organic, FDA
Mushrooms in Blend: Chaga, Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Reishi, Shiitake, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps, Phellinus Linteus, Oyster, Wood Ear.
Sourced: Untouched mountains of China.
Comments:
The reason this one made my #1 medicinal mushroom supplement blend is because of it has one of the highest levels of Beta D-Glucans and lowest levels of polysaccharides.
Additionally, it has one of the highest ratios for the mushroom extract which is 14:1. This means they had to grind up 14 grams of mushrooms to get 1 grams of extract. And if you consider how high the Beta Glucans and how low the polysaccharides, that means this is a very powerful supplement.
One other bonus I liked was that they source their mushrooms in the mostly untouched mountains of China. They 3rd party test and manufacture the product in the USA. Most mushrooms used in supplements are farmed in pollution rich cities.
An interesting fact: They were the first to do a 10 mushroom blend which was later copied by Micro Ingredients but they made it as a powder instead of an extract.
2) Micro Ingredients – Organic Mega 10 Mushroom Complex Powder

Mushrooms in Blend: Chaga, Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Reishi, Shiitake, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps, Phellinus Linteus, Oyster, Wood Ear.
Sourced: USA
Comments:
This one came in second because it only has a 10:1 extract ratio and it isn’t source in the fresh open air. It is however sourced in the USA which is a plus because of the USA’s high reputation for delivering high quality and it’s many regulations.
Everything else remains the same as in the first extract except they make no mention of how much of their supplement is polysaccharides.
3) JETSU – 10 Mushroom Blend Extract Powder

Comments:
This one came in third because of it’s high Beta Glucan measured levels. Additionally the price is just amazing! One bag actually sells for $28.95 however it will last you for 5 months.

Mushrooms in Blend: Chaga, Maitake, Reishi, Shiitake, Turkey Tail.
Sourced: They source the product in China and also have a sister company in Canada.
Comments:
One thing I really like about this company is they are family run and operated and are very proud of their mushrooms being of the highest quality and they back it up with 3rd party testing.
There biggest downside compared to the other supplements is they only have 5 mushrooms in their blend. Overall it seems like a very trust worthy company and you can be certain you are getting top quality ingredients.
5) FRESHCAP Mushrooms – Thrive 6 Mushroom Complex

Mushrooms in Blend: Chaga, Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Reishi, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps.
Sourced: China
Comments:
This mushroom blend supplement is very similar to the one before except it has 6 mushrooms instead of 5. Also, this one has Lion’s Mane mushroom and Cordyceps which are two of my favorite mushrooms for the health benefits they provide.
Price wise this one is very affordable as well when you look at how much you get based on a 30 day supply. It also measures very nicely with the percentage of Beta Glucans.

Comments:
This supplement is roughly the same as #4 before it except it is sourced in China and has higher measured Beta Glucan levels. Also, price wise you will get more for your money when ordering this one.
The only reason #4 was better than this one to me was because I like how it is sourced from Canada and it is family owned and operated.
8) NATUREALM – Sacred 7 Mushroom Extract Powder

Mushrooms in Blend: Chaga, Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Reishi, Shiitake, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps.
Sourced: Mountains of China.
Comments:
This one seems like the ingredients are lower however they have 80 servings in a bag. So even though it says 700 mg in a serving you can just take a coupe scoops to get more of it.
I love their choice of mushroom in the blend, they have nice and high Beta Glucan levels, great reviews and they are also a family run and operated business. One big downside is it has a low extract ratio of 1:1.
9) Happy Wholefoods – Power Potion High Potency Mushroom Powder Blend

Certifications: Non-GMO, Vegan, Lab Tested, Organic
Mushrooms in Blend: Chaga, Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Reishi, Shiitake, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps, Oyster.
Sourced: Mountains of China.
Comments:
For this one I really love the choice of the 8 mushrooms they picked for this supplement blend. They claim that they mushrooms they use are grown in the mountains of China, shade houses in China or wild picked.
The big draw backs for this one is the low amount of ingredients in the serving size and the lower level of Beta Glucans.
10) Fresh Healthcare – Peak Power Mushroom Complex

Comments:
This mushroom supplement is very unique in that they have introduced black pepper into the ingredients. When black pepper is added to supplements it has been proven to increase the absorption of supplements as high as 2,000 %.
11) Four Sigmatic – 10 Mushroom Blend

Comments:
This mushroom supplement has decent reviews and is a major company with many products. They chose a really good 10 mushroom blend and they use a dual extract process to try to maximize the strength.
12) ZHZOU – Ultra Pure 7 Mushroom Extract Supplement

Mushrooms in Blend: Chaga, Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Reishi, Agaricus Blazei, Shiitake, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps.
Sourced: Multiple locations
Comments:
From this point on all the remaining mushroom supplements don’t measure the Beta Glucan levels in their ingredients. That is the main reason they have been moved this far down the list.
The good side to this supplement is they use fermented mushroom supplements which has been proven to help with the bio availability, absorption and provide increased health benefits then non-fermented supplements.
One big downside to this supplement is they don’t mention if it is an extract or just ground up mushroom. Hopefully they used an extract otherwise the absorption would be really poor. I have reached out to them to find out if it is an extract.
13) Hippie Farms – 5 Mushrooms Reserve Blend

Mushrooms in Blend: Chaga, Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps.
Sourced: USA
Comments:
This uses high dosages of the 5 mushroom they have in their blend which is good and all their mushroom are organically grown inside the USA in FDA registered facilities and 3rd party tested.
One big downside is they don’t mention their supplement is an extract so I have reached out to them to verify if they do use an extract.
14) Solaray – Fermented Mushroom Complete

Comments:
This one looks good with their mushroom choices but again no mention it being an extract. They claim the mushrooms are fermented in the USA so I assume they are also grown in the USA but you never know.
15) Activa Naturals – Mushroom Blend Supplement
Rating: 4

# of Mushroom in Blend: 7
Extract: Yes
Fermented: No
Certifications: GMP, USA
Mushrooms in Blend: Chaga mushroom, Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Reishi, Shiitake, Turkey Tail mushroom, Cordyceps mushrooms.
Sourced: USA
Comments:
This one doesn’t put on the bottle anything about being grown in the USA or that it is an extract but when asked the question they do say it is an extract and that is it grown in the USA.
This one I just don’t get a good feeling about because they don’t put anything on the label but claim a lot of stuff unofficially. Also, they put strange dosages of each ingredient without any explanation as of why.

Conclusion
All reviews, ratings and pricing were based upon products on Amazon as of 15 February of 2020. Some supplements are in capsules and others on in powder form. Also, almost all of them are gluten free and support the immune system.
So those are the top 15 best mushroom supplements that I found through my research online. Anyone of them would be a good choice to choose from but I would go with the one that I ranked as #1. Host Defense and Genius Mushrooms brands were reviewed but did not make my list because the use mycelium as their ingredients.
Some side effects could occur if you take the supplements in excessive amounts however if you follow the recommended dosages on the packaging you should be fine.
Whatever you decide I hope you go with a supplement that uses the actual fruiting body instead of the mycelium. Let me know in the comments below which one of my top 15 best mushroom supplements that you chose to go with.

Hi Oliver…not sure if the products you sell can be used for all mushrooms? A friend uses recreational mushrooms…that may soon be legal. Here in Alaska we have to grow mostly indoors? With the 3 months of total sun. Thx for any comments. Best, Rebecca

Do you have a list of the best blends in capsules?
I have been using Ryze in the morning as a “coffee”and enjoy it. I recently started taking the Auri gummies, and I feel like they help.
but after reading this article… I’m curious if you’re familiar with either and if so… I’d appreciate any comment you have in regard to their efficacy.
I’m planning on a grow kit from you to start getting the real thing and fresh, but I love on my boat, and have a small window of consistent temperatures to grow and space is a concern as well… but I’m looking forward to it!
thank you!
Hi, Jonathan. Thank you for your inquiry. While we cannot comment on the efficacy of other brands’ products, we can assure you that our grow kits are high-quality and are designed to grow functional mushrooms even within a small space. When it comes to temperature, the inoculated kit is best kept at 79°F. You can use a thermometer to monitor the temperature around the growing area and adjust the heating mat as necessary to maintain a consistent temperature.
